Shovelers

I've always been told that when you find yourself at the bottom of a deep hole, the first thing you should do is stop digging. Seems like some folks just can't let go of the shovel. If they did they'd have to face their predicament and their own part in it. They need to be doing something so they just keep digging and tell themselves that if they keep at it they'll end up someplace where it all makes sense, when all that really happens is the hole caves in.
