So I watch a video on YouTube and the poster references some other video that's relevant and is kind enough to put a link in the description bar. I click on it and get a scary colored 'redirect' warning. Am I SURE I want to leave? It links to another video ON YOUR SITE, you idiots. Can your software not tell the difference? You can't be responsible for what happens there? It's your website.

Stop The Planet

Stop the planet , I wanna get off. Appartently, fluoride has already killed me. Oh, it seems to also be responsible for just about every disease known to man. But I found something the conspiracy nuts should be really worried about. Everybody who has ingested dihydrogen monoxide has either died or will die. It's frightening. Really.

You decide for yourself, but this got a chuckle out of me. I saw this bumper sticker today that said, "My drinking team has a racing problem." As some one who, in my youth, spent some Sunday nights in the stands at the half mile dirt oval, I can understand the funny in it.

Hey, Noah

So the weather is giving us a break for few days, but we have a flood warning into midweek. And cleanup and repairs will go on longer than that. Lots of us are going to be working at this for while, but it's nothing that hasn't happened before. At least it's not as bad as '93.

Taxing

So, we just had tax day. In principle, I don't have any problem with paying my fair share. But it bugs me that there are people out there who can easily afford to pay and don't. If this gap between the "haves" and "have-nots" continues to widen, there's gonna be trouble. If you stand on people's necks until they have nothing left to lose they will start to act like it. I believe the French chopped off a bunch of their leader's heads a while back. So, could we straighten things out sooner and peacefully rather than wait for a messy revolution?

On Death

No, I'm not depressed or being all morbid or anything. A friend just had a death in the family, so it got me thinking. I don't fear dying anymore than I was afraid of the time before I was born. Not existing is pretty much the same no matter how it happens. No, the thing about it that bothers me is all the stuff I won't get to know. We can look back over history (mostly) and see how things got the way they are. But I want to know how it all turns out. Will we ever colonize Mars? Will we ever TERRAFORM Mars? What other cool stuff will happen that we haven't even thought of yet? Inquiring minds want to know.

Let's Pretend

You ever feel like just walking away? Like the characters in TV and movies get to. Start a whole new life, become a different person? It's been that kind of day lately. Not that I have some cool new persona all planned out or anything, I'm just bored with the same old stuff. I may have to dig out all four seasons of The Pretender and watch them again. I don't envy Jarrod having to always be on the run, but that getting to be different people seems kind of attractive. So, who would you be this week if you weren't who you are? I think I'd like to be rich for a couple weeks. :-)

Changes?

So what's new over the last several years? Surprisingly less than one might think. All kinds off people who believed crazy stuff still do, the sun still rises each day, politics is still a mess. You'd think humans could make better progress. I'm not being pessimistic but I wanted to be more optimistic than this. Work is still work, play is still play. Whatever will I find to rant about. :-)

Okay, so apparently I haven't had anything useful to say for three and a half years. Dunno. I have mixed feelings about resurrecting this thing. There's a fair amount of painful personal stuff back there, and not that far back. Okay, if I'd kept writing it would be deeper. My choice. I've thought about letting all my old blogging friends know I'm starting this up again, but they're all busy with families and kids and stuff now. So maybe I'll just blather on and see who wanders by. Oh, and yeah, I'm gonna have to tidy up the place a bit. I'll go through those links over there and see which ones are still active one of these days. Also, I might not be posting with the same regularity that I used to. New rules, I'll say what I want when I feel like it. Yeah, so here we go again. :-)
