Dig This

I just discovered that if I dug a hole all the way through the earth it would end up in the Indian Ocean. I think it goes without saying that I'd never get that far, what with all that magma and the like.

I wonder how far the deepest hole ever dug with a shovel went?
I wonder if the internet can tell me?

If anybody finds it before I do, let me know. :-)

EE&V

Eyes
A couple in a tight embrace on an empty street corner.
Ears
Breathing, heartbeats, little else.
Voice
"You're not coming back, are you?"

"Look at me. Look in my eyes. I would walk.....through......fire."

Outside The Lines

Living outside the normal lines can mean more freedom, but with that comes more responsibility. You have to take your own chances with things and there are less resources to rely on. Nobody can tell you where the trail leads or what the hazards might be if you're out there blazing your own way. It can be a little intimidating, but it's often a great feeling of achievement.

I don't think I'd want it any other way.

Update on the hats - sixty different versions, but they're all the same hat. Kind of an anticlimax.

Welcome to the USA

Okay Bec, here you go. I'd like to point out that even though I put Jade's name on that last pic, you could download it too. Wait, I bet you already did. You're pretty sneaky, getting me to feel like I'd left you out. :-)

Oh, I already uploaded the photo. I should have cropped off the top and bottom for you. (big grin)

Enjoy! (all of you)

Log Cabin Day

I don't know who makes these things up. I wonder who I have to talk to to get some day declared "International Stupid Holiday" day.
Oh, wait, I know, I should talk to Hallmark. They seem to be responsible for about as many holidays as anybody else on the globe.

At least the weather has gotten kinder.

Now I have to go learn about hats from 1873.

Too Many Movies?

Why you doin' this, Doc?

Because Wyatt Earp is my friend.

Friend? Hell, I got lots of friends.

...I don't.

For Jade

Okay, so this picture is old enough to drink in all fifty states. I couldn't quite make it fit your screen without cropping, but it's close. When I was a kid they always told me "It's the thought that counts." It's not an eclair, but....

Notes to Self

Taking naps on the floor is for people with soft floors.

Garvity is a harsh mistress.

A bunch of people working together can change the standards faster than you can conform.

Converting things to measurements your foriegn friends will understand is only cool if you get it right.

Sometimes, posting every day means you say stupid things.

You can tell you're not a teenager anymore when you see a PYT (pretty young thing) and wonder what her mother looks like.

It's always some kind of holiday somewhere. Today is National Chocolate Eclair Day. Party on.

Groan

Regis Philbin is the new Chuck Barris. It's a re-tread of the Gong Show.
Do we need this? No. Will people watch it? Unfortunately, yeah.

I think I need to get some new music soon.

For those of you who feel obliged to make suggestions, please do. If you're to suggest something I haven't heard of, please compare it to stuff I already have so I'll know if I'll like it.

Dick, Lights, & Ice

I watched Frontline, The Dark Side today. If you're interested in the war in Iraq, you can watch the whole show online starting Thursday. Apparently, Dick was ready to invade Iraq on Sept. 11.

Not me in the Ambulance. The guy who was will be fine. (I've never ridden in one, and can't decide if I feel left out or lucky.)

Hot, humid, muggy, and rain. Can somebody send me a box of winter? :-)

Ironically, it's Ice Cream Soda Day.

Here I Am

Some of you may have noticed I started showing up here before I said I would. It's a combination of the weather and some other stuff, like somebody going in an ambulance. Nothing life-threatening. Funny how things never turn out quite the way you expect.

I've been sitting here reading about how I'm supposed to replace tables with block level stuff in the style sheet, and it's making mind feel fuzzy. I'll get it figured out, but maybe another day when I'm less tired. Everybody can see what happens (below) when I push on after my brain has gone to sleep.

Thanks to all of you who read regularly. I'll try to think up something witty or funny next time.
Oh, aside from being Father's Day it's also International Panic Day. I wonder if there's a connection?

Some Stuff

For those of you on the other side having fall/winter, can we trade for a while? It's getting hotter than I want here. We're looking at 50C to 55C here in the next few days. Oh, with lots of humidity and maybe rain. Yippee.

For those of you who've found the badger, the code has been updated but shouldn't look any different.

For those of you going places and doing things this weekend, go safely and have fun!

I'll be away from the computer for a couple days. I should be back on-line sometime Sunday night (my time zome). If I don't seem responsive during that time, it's not out of rudness or neglect. :-)

Got some stuff to do before I can sleep, see (read) you all soon.

OOPS
This is what happens when I do simple math when tired. I used the right conversion rate, but forgot to account for the different zero points. Those temps should be somewhere in the mid 30sC, not 50s. That would likely be an all time record for this area.
Sorry.

Cyberpunk

Home is where your mind is.
Friends are everywhere, it no longer matters what they look like or where they are. It matters what they have to say and how they say it.
The establishment doesn't always know what's best for us.
My stuff is mine, your stuff is yours. Knowledge should be everybody's.
Lemmings, don't know they are. Think for yourself.
Even if you're winning the rat race, you're still a rat.
Don't let the world tell you who you are. Decide how you want the things to be, you likely won't find yourself alone.
Smart people are still worth knowing no matter what the map says.

We are cyberpunk.

Fearless

You can cry tough baby, it's all right
You can let me down easy, but not tonight

Were running with the shadows of the night
So baby take my hand, it'll be all right
Surrender all your dreams to me tonight
They'll come true in the end

----------------------------
Maybe its a sign of weakness
When I dont know what to say
Maybe I just wouldnt know
What to do with my strength anyway

We belong to the light
We belong to the thunder
We belong to the sound of the words
Weve both fallen under
Whatever we deny or embrace
For worse or for better
We belong, we belong
We belong together

Berserkr

Berserkr - One who has gone 'berserk' (violently out of control)

The time draws near to don maile, pick up shield, axe, and hammer, and go a-viking.

We miss you Suze. Hope all is well with you.

Dashboard Confessional

Hope dangles on a string
Like slow spinning redemption
Winding in and winding out
The shine of which has caught my eye

And roped me in
So mesmerizing, so hypnotizing
I am captivated

I am Vindicated
I am selfish
I am wrong
I am right
I swear I'm right
I swear I knew it all along

And I am flawed
But I am cleaning up so well
I am seeing in me now the things you swore you saw yourself

So clear
Like the diamond in your ring
Cut to mirror your intentions
Oversized and overwhelmed
The shine of which has caught my eye
And rendered me so isolated, so motivated
I am certain now that

I am Vindicated
I am selfish
I am wrong
I am right
I swear I'm right
I swear I knew it all along

So turn
Up the corners of your lips
Part them and feel my finger tips
Trace the moment, fall forever
Defense is paper thin
Just one touch and I'd be in
Too deep now to ever swim against the current
So let me slip away [3x]
So let me slip against the current
and let me slip away [4x]

I am Vindicated
I am selfish
I am wrong
I am right
I swear I'm right
I swear I knew it all along

Slight hope
It dangles on a string
Like slow spinning redemption...

I Was Only Kidding

Gee, I made a stupid remark, kind of kidding Suze about breaking blogger and what happens? I log on today and her blog is gone. I hope nothing nasty is hapening on her end.
Hopefully it's a glitch, but if any of us did something to make you delete, just say the word and I'll go get 'em (even if it was me) - figuratively speaking of course.

Who Broke Blogger?

Earlier, I was looking around and Blogger stopped. I got a thing that said they were trying to fix it, apparently they have. Who done it?

Suze, are you pushing buttons on that new phone? (grin)

Can Men Be Bimbos?

Verbosity leads to unclear, inarticulate things.
Dan Quayle, 11/30/88

The Holocaust was an obscene period in our nation's history. I mean in this century's history. But we all lived in this century. I didn't live in this century.
Dan Quayle, 9/15/88

People that are really very weird can get into sensitive positions and have a tremendous impact on history.

I kind of miss this guy, at least with him you knew up front you were getting an idiot.

Geek Me

I never used to be anything anyone would consider a geek, but it's happening. I was always one of the 'smart' kids, but I played some sports and stuff too. These days, I'm still fairly physical, but I'm drifting heavily over the line.

What am I rambling about? I just added another really cool web development tool and I find it as exciting as buying power tools. I'm kind of dissapointed that I won't have time to really play with it for about seventeen hours. :-(

I suppose I could blame it all on blogging. If I hadn't started this...

Oh, who am I trying to kid? I was making the move to geekdom when I built my first website years ago. (Yeah, the current version of that site is still around and in desperate need of an update - 83 code warnings, geeez. I'll get on it tomorrow, I promise.) Now I run several and I'm addicted to checking the server logs on a nightly basis. Like checking the counter logs on here, I think I'm making a ritual out of it.

It's a sickness. (big grin)

Blog Logs

Checking the logs is kind of fun. (Don't worry, I don't know who anybody is. Just re-occuring ISPs and the like.) I realize many of these folks are just surfing, but it's kind of neat to see all the interesting places they come from. Almost a dozen countries so far. And some of the repeats stop showing up for a while, then resuface, which is kind of a nice feeling.
So if you stop by here, look around a little and leave a comment if you like. I can't offer much help to all the people who stop by and likely don't speak my language, but thanks for the visit anyway!

You Make Me Feel So Good!

I just added an RSS feed reader thing and so far I like it. So for those of you out there who have counters on your blogs, I may only show up on them if I'm leaving a comment, but I'm still reading your posts. It just seemed easier than going through a whole bunch of bookmarks just to see what's new. I'll keep you posted. (Ha! I crack myself up!)

Talkin' 'bout the wah-wah.
